Turn the inspiration of the Democracy Innovation Festival 2026 into action by making one small, public commitment to a more democratic future.

As co-organisers, with Adelaide University, we are asking organisations to consider what they can do to advance the cause of democracy, by making a Democracy Pledge.

Not sure what to pledge? Here are some ideas to get you started. Pick one and make it yours.

  • Respond to a public consultation: Commit to having your say on one issue that matters to you.

  • Listen better: Have one real conversation this year about what someone else wants to see change.

  • Do something concrete on one thing you care about: Write, call, volunteer, or show up for it.

  • Learn and discuss: Pick one book, article or podcast that speaks to you about 'democracy' and talk it through with someone.

  • Share the mic: Next time you have a chance to speak, invite someone else in — instead of you, or alongside you.

Submit your pledge below and post it to your socials using #AUdemfestival #democracypledge

Make your democracy pledge

Our pledge

Inspired by our discussions at the Democracy Innovation Festival, the team at Dem36 commit to the following:

"Over the next 12 months, we will develop a proposal for a participatory approach to constitution-making as a core component of a draft Charter for Democratic Renewal"

"We will compile all pledges made at the Democracy Innovation Festival and consider how we may advance these as part of our Draft Charter for Democratic Renewal"
